This Tomatsu outboard was purchased new by me in 2003. It was used as a "kicker" for my sailboat to get in and out of the canals down in the florida keys. I used it for four seasons and it proved to be extremely reliable. In 2007 I purchased a 6 hp Tomatsu as the 3.5 hp was not strong enough for the currents and tides. It did the job but the weight of my boat and the other aforementioned reasons it proved to be undersize for my use. This motor is a long shaft "20 in" and has no transmisson. When you pull the starter your on your way. It has reverse by roatating the motor head 180 degrees. It is 2-cycle with a 50:1 fuel/oil ratio and intregal fuel tank. After three years in storage it started on the second pull. The motor was used in seawater and flushed after every season and the lower units oil was changed The motor weight is apprx. 36 lbs. The outer case is somewhat faded from the Florida sun and has some scratches from being transported in the cockpit of my sailboat .
